How to make a curved 3d object smooth in ZWCAD?

 Issue:
The 3D models shows as faceted in CAD.

Solution:
In ZWCAD, set the variable ‘Facetres’ to a higher value, this variable is used to adjusts the smoothness of shaded/rendered /hidden 3D model. Valid values are from 0.01 to 10.0, the higher the value is, the smoother the 3D model looks like.

CAD tips: File extension SV$, what is SV$? How to open SV$ file?

Issue:
After using ZWCAD for a while, you find there are some file with SV$ as extension in your folder. What is this file? How to open it?

Solution:
The SV$ file is automatically saved DWG file. If you start the automatic save option, your drawing is saved at specified time intervals. By default, system assigned the name filename.sv$ for temporarily saved files, filename here refers to current drawing name.
The temporary files are removed automatically when a drawing closes normally. However, these files are not deleted if there is a program failure or power failure. You can recover the drawing by reverting to a previous version of your drawing from the automatically saved file. In order to do that, you have to rename the file using a .dwg extension. You can find SV$ file from “C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp”

CAD hot tips: merge layers in order to move all the objects on a certain layer onto another layer.

Issue:
There are so many layers in the drawing and some of them are redundant. You want to put all the objects from a redundant layer onto another layer, is that a quick way to make it?

Solution:
Use command LAYMRG. This command enables to merge selected layers into a target layer, removing the previous layers from the drawing. It is useful to get rid of unwanted layers in CAD.
